Ybrain is the company which invented wearable medical device called ‘Yband’ to ease Alzheimer's dementia. Yband sends electrical signals to the brain and strengthen the connection among cells to ease the symptoms of the illness. Alzheimer’s is still incurable and there are medical products which only delay the symptoms.
During the investment, the company has achieved good results from clinical test, led by Professor Na Duk-Ryeol in Samsung Seoul Hospital, who has the authority in Alzheimer disease in Korea.
SBC led the Series A investment, because it valued Lee Gi-Won in Samsung Electro-mechanics, who has the core technology to miniaturize devices. In addition, SBC supported Ybrain’s growth in the early stage through various channels such as advising product strategy, hiring management personnel and introducing key industry insiders. By second half of 2016, the company will launch new product as soon as it completes clinical test. In 2017, the company will penetrate into the U.S market by acquiring the FDA approval.
